I would love to see Pollock and Davis match up against some of the bigger kids, even though he lost he was a classy young man who competes at a high level.

What a lame excuse

Lynn will handle his weight easily? Have you seen even Keys or Stroh wrestle this year?

I'm sure the Lanes would've wrestled in this event and then driven to Paonia to throw some lead around afterwards without missing a beat. For all those Leblancs, Levalleys, Lanes and other 2A horses doing so well in college, you'd think they'd want to put their names in the ring. This is great for wrestling in Colorado. CHSAA isn't the end all be all of wrestling. They need to know their place. This event is about Colorado. CHSAA is about CHSAA. The small school kids want respect, this is the arena where equality meets opportunity and they can get that respect.

It'll be interesting to see if the officials from this event are as biased in a high school gym as they are in the Pepsi Center. :D I'm thinking not.

so you'd be ok if wrestlers from your school missed a wrestling tournament, early or otherwise, to go to what amounts to a club soccer tournament? or swim meet? or maybe a 7 on 7 football camp?

I'm thinking with the 7 pound allowance, perhaps 4A can fill their recently open spot at 145 with Jordan Gutierrez. With the flu he had during the state tournament, he probably wouldn't have too tough of a time making weight. Whoever is at 145 will have his hands full with Snider, but it would give Guitierrez a chance to end his high school season on a better note with a good match (rather than having to sit out and default).

Is there anyone from the western Region signing up for this? 3A is missing the likes of Salazar, Bennetts, Tonder, Gallegos and Piatt. 2A seems to be the Wiggins and Holyoke show.

What happened to Pipher? I would think he could get some west slope kids to come wrestle.

No Score that's not what I'm saying. However if they had to miss an early tournament for an all star football or soccer game I would understand.

Well guys we're going to see how the rubber hits the road on this one. As fans, we have talked about an all star event for a thousand years. Now it has been put together and sanctioned. It just may be that many of the kids don't want it. It appears that 2a and 3a don't want any of this. May end up a 4a and 5a dual. Here's my bold predictions:

103: 5a dec
112: 5a dec
119: 4a TF
125: 4a dec
130: 4a md
135: 4a md
140: 4a md
145: 5a fall
152: 4a dec
160: 4a dec
171: 5a dec
189: 5a fall
215: 5a fall
285: 5a dec

5a inks it out

Maybe 2A and 3A just haven't updated their rosters on here yet. I think there will be some kids from 2A/3A that don't get enough credit and will surprise you.

The kids I was referring to are already signed up. I wouldn't say they will surprise you if they weren't even going to wrestle.

3A
103 A.J.Salazar state champ from Lake County has just committed for 3A.

5A
140 Tanner Hirstine state champ from Cherry Creek already has a commitment to attend the ACC Championships to watch the Virginia Caveliers(where he will be attending next year) contend for a title.

The trophy is on ice, no coaches, it's Mtn. Dew and bragging rights are ready for the taking!

THE SMACKDOWN!

I'm all behind it, I was there when Mark proposed the idea and I loved it. However, I don't think we had it all figured out and how to make it what it should be. Until my kid said, "Why should I pay $20... to have others want a piece of me... and how will that help us go to Nationals?" I thought, "Hummm, good point?" Then an idea light bulb  appeared above the head. :)

THE SMACKDOWN is not just the class champs wrestling against each other. THE SMACKDOWN is the WRESTLING FANS of Colorado SMAKINGDOWN donations for their favorite kids, teams and classes to raise money for our Cadet and Junior National teams and coaches to go to National Duals and Fargo!

COLORADO WRESTLING - here is a challenge! Let's step up to the plate - and put our money where our mouths are - and make donations, solicit donations, and solicit corporate sponsorships to show our pride for what class we think is best, for the great productive cause of helping to fund our National teams!

The bragging rights will be... let's see which classes can raise the most money! And enjoy the champs pounding it out in the process. 8) Let's make donations and solicit others and sponsors to donate toward our favorite 2A, or 3A, or 4A or 5A kids to have scholarship money for national teams.

I'll SMACKDOWN the first $100. for 5A. And I'll be out beating bushes for some other donations. Scott jump in on this as to how people should make their donations.

Let's get creative with how we can make this a success. Let's do this right... and let the games begin!
